    It’s time for the 2017 Stevens Elementary Jump-A-Thon!

    Mrs. Goubert and Mr. Peters, the Stevens physical education instructors, have kicked off the New Year working with our children on their jump-roping skills.

    On Friday, January 27th, students will put their skills to the test in our annual JUMP-A-THON. Each student will collect pledges for the number of times they can jump rope in ONE MINUTE.

    This event emphasizes the importance of physical fitness and gives the children an opportunity to raise money for their school.

    Here’s how it works and how you can help:

    1. Prior to the event, students ask friends and family to sponsor them. Please track pledges on the spreadsheet on the back of this page. After the event, students will collect pledge money in an envelope sent home on the day of the jump-a-thon that has the number of jumps recorded.
    2. Sponsors pledge an amount per jump (e.g., 50 jumps X 10¢ per jump = $5). You might want to see how many jumps your student can do in one minute before collecting pledges, so that potential sponsors have an idea for how much to pledge. Sponsors may also pledge a fixed dollar amount.
    3. Encourage your child to collect pledges. Talk about safety, manners, and school spirit. We ask that children avoid houses they do not know, and not go inside any house. We also request that an adult accompany them when they go to get pledges, as well as when they collect money after the event. This is your child’s chance to show pride in their school!
    4. The student in each class with the highest number of jumps per minute wins a prize!
    5. If you can volunteer to record jumps the day of the event, Friday, Jan 27th, 8:45-10:30am, please contact Diane Stoebe at or 206-999-3592.
    6. Remind students to return to their sponsors between Jan 28th - Feb 5th to collect pledge money, and then turn in their completed pledge money envelopes to teachers by Mon,Feb 6th.

    Important Dates:

    • * January 20-26 - Seek sponsors and ask for pledges!
    •    All proceeds from the Jump-a-thon support Stevens PTA programs that help our students excel!
    • * January 27th - Jump-a-thon will be held at school from 8:45-10:30am.
    • * January 28th - February 5th - Return to your sponsors and collect your pledges.
    • * February 6th - Bring your collected pledges to school to be tabulated.
